Budecort, which contains the active ingredient budesonide, is primarily used as a maintenance treatment for asthma and to prevent asthma symptoms in children. While it can help control certain types of coughing associated with asthma or respiratory infections, its effectiveness for treating coughing unrelated to these conditions is limited.

Budesonide, the main component of Budecort, is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways. This can help alleviate coughing and other asthma symptoms. However, Budecort 200 Inhaler is not a fast-acting “rescue” medication for sudden asthma attacks or coughing episodes. It needs to be used regularly as a preventive measure to maintain control over asthma symptoms. For coughing due to other causes, such as the common cold or allergies, Budecort may not provide significant relief. In such cases, other medications or treatments specifically targeting the underlying cause of the cough may be more appropriate.
